Are we going to try and get any business sponsorships for this?
Also, as a separate occasion, what about a fundraiser casino night/party in the future? I used to work for a company that puts on casino parties for holidays/ corporate events/fundraisers, etc... I could get a quote if this sounds like something of interest. Maybe we could get some businesses to donate prizes and have a fundraiser party.

I would suggest making it a "New Years Day" poker ride, I have been to a few New Years Day rides in the past and the turnout has been great, No problem remembering what day it is, most people have that day off work, Lots of horsey women would love a chance to get away from their Husbands watching Bowl games,,, :-) I've ridden out of Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend before, You could orginize it as a loop there with people going out on the John Wayne trail and coming back in on the Snoqualmie Valley trail, There are lots of little side trails on that ride as well as the main trails, Rattle Snake Lake is pretty and would be a nice backdrop to have BBQ's set up and all that jazz, (Sorry about all the commas, my daughter must have killed the period key on my keyboard!)

PK - I will help you with the planning seeing as I'm already at your place several times a week "de-mudding" Classy! This sounds like fun!

If there's anything I can do from the East Side let me know. I'm pretty far away, but hate watching and not taking part. I would love to come and ride... maybe there will be a horse in my future.

Here are a few pics from Rattle Snake Lake. I don't know if anyone has done a poker ride out of that location before so that might spike some interest instead of the same old places they have poker and prize rides all the time. Also, North Bend is centrally located as far as where people would be coming from. Just a thought. I know the trails and could help make a cool route.

I am a terrible organizer and committee member, plus I have never participated in a poker ride -- but once you have the location, I'm on board to help publicize.
And participate, of course. I'm guessing that if the ride is in reasonable hauling distance for the SAFE horses, it would be doable for me too.

I just got a message back from a friend of mine who is a member of BCH. She suggested the Nisqually Mashell trail in Eatonville. Parking is good, and trails stay doable in the winter weather. Ironically, I was out there yesterday for about 4 hours. The trails were in good condition and not too muddy, and there are lots of different options that keep it safe for beginner riders.
Here's what she had to say:
I would suggest Nisqually Mashell for your ride. Lots of parking under the power lines and several trails that stay dry in winter. The lady that I know of as the Queen of that area is Louise Caywood. She put in most of the trails up there.
She gave me the number to Louise Caywood for additional info. I can pass it on to PK if she wants it, or I can call myself to get info. I have never done a poker ride, so it might be better if someone more knowledgeable calls.

I have a blue version of the purple tack room organizer & grooming bucket that we donated to the SAFE Show as a raffle prize. it's almost identical with 1 less container. I'd be happy to donate that as a Prize for the Poker Ride I also highly recommend a FACE BOOK event page that people can post to their FB pages to perpetuate the interest. It did a great job getting people to HeART of the Horse....great "free" advertising! Also post it on Craigs List in Pets!...they have an event calendar too!

Count me in, I won't have a horse, so I'd like to volunteer in another area, maybe in the poker areas or at the food station...whatever works. I'd also like to get some flyers to put up.

I'm in. I would like to ride if not one of the rescues, definitely my own girl. I may have a few friends who would be willing to help out as well.

If a flyer gets created, I can promote it at work to our Equestrian alias. If no flyer, I can get the details out anyway. All goes well, I plan to ride it, should be interesting.

I put it on the Washington Horse Facebook page. Where else did you want it?

Nope I'm not on Facebook. I think I'm one of only a small group of people now not on facebook, but I prefer not to be. I do think that it is a great way to network SAFE though. I think SAFE should have their own page!

You mentioned sponsoring a horse/rider. Can we get more information on that? If any of the SAFE horses are going to be ridden in this event, I'd sponsor one of them!
