I am starting to think about which horses we might bring to the show and in what classes. There are of course many unknowns - including which horses will be available still in August.
As most of our ridable horses are green and/or out of shape/work, what I am looking for are very experienced riders who can commit to working with their assigned horse at least 2-3 times a week until the show. Also, while a few of our horses may be able to do some western classes, all of our horses have been started English so I am looking for people who are experienced English riders. I have a few people that have been working with some of the horses (riding or lunging), but have not been able to get a lot of consistency. The horses that are candidates for coming to the show are:
- Cedar (I think I have a rider for her already)
- Annie - needs a LOT of work to be ready
- Krabask - needs conditioning/tune up
- Class Act - needs conditioning/tune up - maybe walk/trot only
- Lexi - coming back from training early Aug
- Rhythm - coming back from training early Aug
- Little Miss - POSSIBLY - needs a lot of work to be ready
We also have a huge group of youngsters, that if I can get experienced handlers to work with them on the ground prior to the show, I would like to bring along for halter/showmanship and maybe in-hand trail. However, again I am looking for very experienced handlers, because these are young unpredictable horses, and they are likely to be pretty excited in a show environment. We also need to have those people commit to working with their horse 2-3 times a week on groundwork to prepare.
Candidates for in-hand are:
- Dory
- Scotti
- Aiden
- Lola
- Benny
- Sinatra
**I am purposely leaving off Summer, Whisper as they are pending adoption, Jasmine and Honeycutt as they are pasture pets only, and Wishes and Amber as I anticipate they will be in training during the show.
The other issue is getting them there. I only have a two-horse trailer and would prefer not to make multiple trips, so bringing more than two horses means I need experienced drivers with safe horse trailers who can haul.
I know there have been offers to work with the horses and/or haul on the other threads but I wanted to start a thread specific to this effort.
I am going to be pretty picky about who works with the horses and only looking for people who have years of experience dealing with horses of all levels, can make the committment to work with their horse consistently, and can work with their horse independently.
Please respond to this thread or PM me if you can help with a horse or with hauling.
Thanks!
