I like the idea of a poker ride. At my old job, they use to get some bikers together to ride their motorcycles on poker runs to benifet dogs. I was looking on line for ideas and saw a frisby golf tournament to benifit charity and also this website: www.fundraising-ideas.org/DIY/petremembrance.htmAlso, I heard a lot about that tack consignment store that opened up, do we have a donation can there, and if not, we should see about getting one there.

- $10. a-thon (urging members to send in $10. donations) -Yard/garage sale - horse play day (do a play day somewhere, and open it to the public, and do various games adn such) -Donation cans (do we have donation cans set up various places?) - hang more fliers (I think there is a post for this already) - sell SAFE shirts (I know I need another one, I have mine worn out) can SAFE make a profit from selling shirt? As most of you know...I'm ALL In FAVOR of doing anything that can result in funds for SAFE!!! I love the ideas & agree with Jaime that they EACH require someone to take the lead and make it happen. As the organizer of several projects/events I can tell you the idea phase is the easy part & it's the execution that get's tricky. On the volunteer front I encourage people to be creative and see what special talent or skill they have for something and create a project/event that will bring in money & PR. We've had some very successful projects... like Kathleen's Clinic w/Duane Hebert. She came up with that all on her own & it was well attended, well presented and fueled the fire that ultimately resulted in the adoption of Benny! The Tack Sale, the Nonies & many many other ideas actually resulted in something happening! A little idea we had late last year ballooned into HeART of the Horse and while people jumped on the volunteer list in lightening speed, it was the work of a few of us not connected to the day-to-day activities of running the rescue or caring for the horses (ok....perhaps I'm somewhat connected to the daily caring of the horses!) had to make the time to make it happen or it might have sat in the in-box of the board of directors as one of those things that MIGHT work out...if they only had enough time.... I say this in the volunteer email/updates quite frequently: WHAT can YOU do to make a difference? I see that many of you already want to sign up on the poker run or order a cool sweatshirt (and yes, I'm in line for a cool black jacket, specifically one I can ride in, with the SAFE Logo on it) SOMEONE needs to put it together. I do happen to know that Bonnie has the embroidery template set up with a local place over on her side of the pond and can have the logo placed on just about anything one could place a logo on for a very reasonable price...I want to say $8 for the size she had the recent show polos done on. But it's a project that Jaime, Bonnie & Jenny simply can't get to right now and tomorrow doesn't look that free either....so if someone has a little time to spare...pick a project and run with it!!! I can say with some experience that there's not typically a lot of resistance from the BOD for a project they don't personally have to manage...but I would at least run it by them to make sure it's in line with our goals. Anyway....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to brainstorm & be ready to take on the project or post them here...perhaps someone else will see it and think WOW...I may not be able to get up and muck paddocks or donate tons of money ...but... I Can totally do THAT!! Let's consider Each of these Ideas "In Need" of a leader....until they get their own thread for an actual upcoming event. Keep posting...keep checking but PLEASE don't be afraid to jump in and make some magic!!!! You can too

You have my approval of course. Bonnie and I will have to get back to you on some of the questions you asked, but we'll work on it this week.

So, along the lines of the jackets/shirts/vests/whatnot with the SAFE logo, I was at country village last weekend (in bothell) and there is a cute little embroidery shop there. www.moondogembroidery.com/I was talking to the owner, and they love to do small orders (as few as 1) for various items. They have a huge variety of items that they will embroider things on. They also do photo printing on any of their items, they had dog pictures printed on messenger bags that were really neat. p.s. Jet, you must look at the services page: www.moondogembroidery.com/embroidery That last line looks a little familiar...maybe it's a perfect match!

At my business, we work with a large wholesale company who provides outerwear, t's, jackets, vests, uniforms, etc. They have great wholesale pricing and will embroider each item for one inclusive cost. I will be looking into that today. I will also be happy to look at the info jbirashk sent just above this post. It would be great to get some items for us horse lovers and SAFE supporters to wear proudly. It just has to make financial sense. Thanks for the input!

We did have a Cafepress store at one time. I am not sure what happened to it, Buena was maintaining it. Bonnie also has our logo digitized and has a local shop that will embroider anything we bring her. So far, we have done tshirts, polos, a saddle pad, and some really nice vests and they turned out great. I really want to do some nice jackets (maybe just in black, with a logo in purple) and other things, but what we need is to find a source of the items we want to have made that we can buy a bunch of them in bulk cheaply. We don't have a lot of extra money to have things made right now, so the cheaper the better! But we can also custom make something if you have something already you want embroidered - PM Bonnie about how to do that! The store is still there. www.cafepress.com/safehorsesI believe I transferred everything over to Bonnie's e-mail address. Is there a better profit for SAFE between the two ? ( Cafepress and the lady who does the work for Bonnie...) T-shirts ? didnt see any on the cafepress. I have one, would like another and have we offered lng sleeve T's ? and bb caps ? anyway of making a different type of sticker? other than the kind that are hard to remove or windo decals ,the easy clear, possibly removeable kind ? I would rather something like that, than a messy non removeable bumper gluey sticker on my vehicle... horse trailer, now thats a different story..

There are bumper stickers that you can get that are magnetic, I don't know if cafe press has them though, but how about license plate frames? I'd buy a couple.

I would defintitely buy clothing with the logo...in fact...if we could make patches that can be stitched to whatever we want to stitch them to I would buy bunches. I can buy the fabric needs - just let me know what that might be. ;D

I have an email out to a friend who has a business that does this kind of thing. I'm hoping thier price comes in very reasonable but will report back when I hear something. They do clothes, promotional materials, etc. So it might be possible to do a one-stop-shop for all of the above.

along the lines of the yard sale....
Anyone who sells on eBay can designate a dollar amount or a percentage to be donated to SAFE!
It's listed as Save A Forgotten Equine...in Silverdale, WA
So when you're cleaning out the garage/extra room (looking for aforementioned frames, of course!) and find a treasure you can part with, list it on ebay and give a portion (or all!) to SAFE. You can still keep your shipping fees ... and a percentage of the sale!
I will say that coming up here SOON is a good time to list things as people are looking for unique gifts and bargains for the holidays! If you list carefully, you can make them end on Thanksgiving weekend when people open up their gift budgets...
I've been selling on eBay for years (not a ton this year though) and if anyone would like tips, I'm happy to advise!!

I came across this site. Basically this company says if you can find a retail business that will be willing to put a gumball machine in it, they'll donate a percentage of the money they make to charity. They service it and everything. Anyone know where we can put some gumball machines? www.nextstepvending.com/opportunities.html
