It appears that we're on an event marathon: 5 events in 5 weeks ;D We've been invited by Parklane Gallery to set up a booth at the last Kirkland Art Walk event outside of their gallery. They close down Park Lane (the street that the gallery is located on) the second Thursday of each month April - October for the Art Walk. We'll set up around 5pm but the event officially runs from 6-9pm There will be art, food and music in a festival atmosphere. October's theme is....appropriately... Octoberfest!! So expect some Oom Pa Pa music We're planning on setting up the SAFE Booth and will probably drag along any available Nonies but we're going to be brainstorming a bit to figure out who else we might be able to raise a little FUNds while we're there. I was told that the Humane Society raised around $11k when they did their booth at a prior months' Art Walk selling "votes" for the 12 dogs who will appear in their calendar "100 dogs of Kirkland". I somehow doubt we could copy their idea...but what an idea THAT was....apparently LOTS of animal lovers come to attend this event! Maeve & I will be hosting the Booth but we'd love to have anyone else join us if you're in the area. I'll create a facebook event page too for ya'll to pass on to your FB friends....especially those in the Kirkland & surrounding areas! One more way to get the SAFE Message out there

Tonite was the Kirkland Art Walk and while it was a slow evening it was actually productive. We got to tell a few folks that, YES, horses are actually neglected....the one guy said "oh, I thought everyone wanted horses"...never considering for a moment before tonite that someone might actually not take proper care of one! ...so, the education arm of SAFE was achieved... We adopted some Nonies out...and made a few bucks for SAFE! A few friends stopped by, including Shannon who dropped off a blanket/halter! (and took home a Nony!) Made several contacts for HeART of the Horse! I think we had promises for 3 pieces...and possibly a 4th PLUS Karen from Park Lane Gallery has a daughter who has to write up a legislative bill and present it as a senior project. Karen has suggested that she use her equine interests & get in touch with us to do something about rescue horses....I'll post another thread for that if it comes up. AND finally....most of the night was spent feeling a little invisible...there were 5 week old kittens next to us...a couple of very cute goats behind us and a few dogs to distract people from our table but the folks who did stop by were very engaging and I think what we lacked in quantity, we made up for in quality. THANKS to Maeve for coming up, it's always good to have you around...at least we keep each other laughing Whew.....the event calendar is actually free for awhile! 6 events in 5 weeks was a bit much. Even though we're taking a much needed breather...please feel free to contact me about having a SAFE Volunteer or two come to YOUR Next event and bring our traveling booth to promote SAFE. We need all the exposure we can get

Jet and Maeve, thanks so much for doing that. I'm glad you were able to do a bit of teaching!
