My husbands flight leaves at 9, not noon, so I will be up to Monroe as soon as I drop him off at the airport to help do whatever it is that needs done!! I didn't bake anything, but I will run out and buy something if we don't have enough!

I'll be there around 8:30 - 8:45am to get stuff set up for the bake sale. I'm bringing an extra table, table cloth, coffee fixings (sugar/cream), coffee, cups, stirrers, napkins, and tags for pricing the goodies. Today was a little crazy getting ready for the sale and leaving for Europe Saturday night (!)
I've baked more than a few horse treats today, stuffed some apple treats, and some cookies.

I don't know the particulars but I hear we earned more than $1k yesterday at the Tack Sale. It was exciting in the morning as lots of folks rolled in and walked out with arm-loads of treasures and then it tapered off. It was a hot day and I think we were all ready to be done well before 4pm! I'm wanted to extend a huge thanks to Emily & Julie who did a great job of putting it together & obviously spent many hours on clean-up, set-up and lots of planning! Lyn & Besty were troopers to make refreshments available. There were lots of treats made by various SAFE Supporters and I know we all really appreciate it! Katy was there and up for whatever needed to be done! Set-up, sell, go on sign patrol, help with fly masks on SAFE horses, etc... I think she was there from beginning to end!! Awesome!!! Brooke showed up with her *NONY* herd...if you don't know what a Nony is, you're missing out .... details to come! One Nony found a new home and the rumor is that Nony's will be at the show in August....that's all I'm saying....you know you want to know ... Of course, Jaime allowed us all to invade her Farm for the day and Bonnie came all the way from Silverdale to help too. Monica was there to take photos and find bargains and many other SAFE supporters stopped by through the day. It was a lot of fun! ..if I've forgotten anyone, I'm sorry, my brain's a little fried still. I'd love to hear from others on how they thought the sale went and comments and ideas so we can decide if we want to continue to do this kind of event! Thanks again everyone

So you know I had to write about it... blog.seattlepi.com/horsebytes/archives/171197.aspWilly looked rather plausible as the winner of "The Langley 2001" and we were inspired to actually do some little jumps in the afternoon. So Jet, you can expect some extra effort from Coconut too. I need the name of our Blackberry Craigslist updater and the baker of the Oatmeal Raisin cookies to give proper credit, if they are checking in here. There will be more pictures and full-res versions available on my website once I have uploaded them.

Love the blog and the picture of Willy with his "The Langley 2001" I'm glad he was able to win it! If you have a facebook type in "Nonies" and a fan page should pop up! I have a group too, and am trying to figure out which one to keep and which one to delete. No pictures yet!

The OR cookies were made by Petra and donated to the sale. Petra is my friend from Holland, who rides my TB Sam. We came early to help set up but most of the work was done. Nice job Emily and help! So, we shopped!! I had a list from two other people to fill and of course I had to have a few thing too. Later that eve John and I came back and picked up the saw horses and plywood. We were just in time to help Hanna and Daphine load their truck with the unsold items. Great job everyone!!

I'd love to hear from others on how they thought the sale went and comments and ideas so we can decide if we want to continue to do this kind of event! Just thought I'd throw my .02 out there. Emily and Julie did a great job of organizing everything- no small feat! The nice thing about the tack sale and similar events is that the overhead is pretty low since SAFE has a place to host the event and a strong volunteer force. If we had to rent a unit to store the materials in, pay for a venue, and then pay to dispose of the leftovers... it might not be worth it. Since SAFE kept practically ever dollar raised- it seems like a pretty good haul. Sorry I could not stay for the clean-up. I felt bad scooting out just in time for the clean-up crew!
