I agree, it's just too cute. I think Phoenix is saying "don't worry, I've got him".

How's the leg? Did it end out being "youthful enthusiasm" that caused the swelling or something else?

I've been wondering about Phoenix's swollen hock, too. Is it okay now? (Looking at the recent photos of him, he sure seems to feel good!)

I've been wondering about Phoenix's swollen hock, too. Is it okay now? (Looking at the recent photos of him, he sure seems to feel good!) It's really never seemed to bother him all that much. We did a trot test on him last week and he is sound but that hock is fairly large and probably always will be.

I got treated to a few acts of Cirque Du Horsay yesterday by Phoenix and Sinatra..altho I suspect Sinatra was a bit of a reluctant participant. Phoenix is just full of himself. Jaime's front pasture looks like it once was a riding arena - and a good size one at that - I estimate around 120x60 at least. Now, and this is NO exaggeration..starting at one end of the pasture, Phoenix reared up and hooked one leg over Sinatra's back and Sinatra walked/trotted Phoenix up 3/4 of that pasture length.
Poor Mr. Sinatra, Phoenix is just relentless on him. Jumping on him, biting him, jumping on him, jumping on him. Chasing him around...occasionally Sinatra gets some good kicks at Phoenix but not nearly often enough.
Sinatra is 3/4 the size of Phoenix and it's very close to not being a fair match. Phoenix is definitely the more aggressive of the two..I can still hardly believe this is the same little baby that Jaime and I picked up at Pilchuck that had to be forced to his feet, so lethargic and depressed, nearly falling down getting into the trailer and really looking like he just might not make it.
Sinatra really doesn't appear really concerned about it, he certainly isn't afraid of Phoenix, but here's to hoping for a sudden growth spurt for Sinatra to make it a fair fight!

We really enjoyed visiting Phoenix and Sinatra on Monday. Sinatra does seem to be the "patient participant" with Phoenix's youthful antics. You just know if Phoenix could talk he'd be saying "Hey, watch this!" ;D

Phoenix and Sinatra are getting their shots done next week and then they have a date to be gelded on July 14th. After they have recuperated from that they will be ready for adoption.

I need to get my boyfriend's daughter out to see these guys before they are gone! I'll bet they will love having their own human all to themselves - but I bet they will miss Jaimie and never forget her for saving their lives - bless you Jaimie
