****** UPDATE **** PLEASE READ ******
I went to check out the concession area of Bridle Trails ( BT) and got to meet with Park Ranger Mary, who is one cool gal.
If no one has been to this facility you are in for a treat. It is very well set up. The bathrooms have a shower and changing area. There are picnic areas with BBQ stands (you must haul out your charcoal when finished)
A quick note to the person in charge of the trail ride program, there are lots of wooden posts there in different dimensions, I am sure we could use in place of the 'log' you were seeking.
The concession area is very nice, it has everything we could ask for (grill, microwave, fridge, stove, radio . The placed was packed with food and I noticed the menu being displayed. I also noticed that the menu was very reasonably priced and had more items then what we were planning on having ( pizza, fruit, chili dogs, hot dogs, pop, water, snacks, breakfast muffins etc).
So I was talking to Mary and she said the Lake Washington Saddle Club (LWSC) puts on the concession and was willing to put it on for other groups as well. Hmmmm. The money goes back into the club and supports the park.
Here are my thoughts about having LWSC put on the concessions instead of SAFE:
1. The money allocated for concessions would go back into the other aspects of putting on the show.
2. I was planning on having 200 SERVINGS for the day. This place is set up for more than that AND if liquid sunshine should show up, we are not left with a surplus of hot dogs, or having the embarrassment of not having enough food.
3. It would free up volunteers to patrol other areas * (more on that at the end)
4. The food already gathered would be used for the volunteers. The Gift Cards that we have will be used for ice and breakfast items. There are a couple of areas to set this up.
5. Mary didn't see a problem with the other vendors wanting to sell their goods, however, I will check into this with the LWSC.
6. We can also sell the Tims Cascade Chips as well through the LWSC.
So, I would like a consensus of what others think of this plan. I would like to know by Tuesday night as I have to get the food permit this week if we decide to go this route. I think having LWCS do this would easier on SAFE and its resources.
**** Regarding the freeing up of concession volunteers and I don't know if Allison has this covered or not. However, we may need some people to police the area. There are a few rules to the park, that I didn't see posted but they are there.
All dogs on a leash at all times (this includes the parking lot) . Mary suggests not even bringing the dog.
All poo must be picked up (this includes the parking lot) The parking lot itself must be picked up. So shavings come out of trailers need to go back into those trailers. No throwing of poo in the bushes.
Horses may be tethered on the METAL hitching posts only..there are some lookout areas that would make it real tempting to tether a horse there but the railings are of wood. Mary said that she has seen a horse galloping down the trail, wild eyed and hysterical with an 8 foot post attached to its' reigns.
