We got Nickers just for this little girl. We QTd him, gave him a make over and after a month she was brought out to the ranch blindfolded to get a surprise-she didn't have a clue! It was so great to see her speechless and then to see happy tears rolling down her little face. Nickers ended up in the perfect spot, he is pampered and a little girl's broken heart is mending. She does her homework in his paddock and spends all her spare time with him. I think that Mary Margret and Nickers are what rescue is supposed to be about. It is about the love between a horse and it's human, it is about getting to be a part of making that magic happen, and sometimes it is about watching a horse that was scheduled for a kill pen just running across the pasture. Sorry for the soapbox, but I love getting horses connected to their new lives.

I can also do phone or email stuff, if you still need help with that as well. I'm hoping this summer to have more time on my hands and possibly be available one afternoon a week to help out hands-on with those in foster. I'm located in Sammamish but would be willing to treck to either arlington or e-burg to do site checks if still needed. If not keep me in mind for future. I'm willing to do checks w/in a 2 hour drive. Further, if you are desperate. A question (doesn't matter much) but would mileage and/or gas be write-off-able once 501c3 is approved? I would prefer to do the "after check" but would be willing to do before too. PM me if you still need a hand with any of the above.

Epiphany, would you like to do Ginger's follow up check in Arlington then? That will be an easy one. You can contact Tina right off the message board - she is "gingersmom". Let me know if you have any questions!
Also, to those that offered to do reference checking, we have a couple of applications in right now. Once it looks like they are a go, I will be needing help with reference checking. I'll contact you when we have something, and thank you!

I Mapquested the two locations that are left for site checks. Both along way away from me as I live in Oregon City/Estacada area. Raymond is 151 miles away and Ellensburg is 227 miles away.
I would like to have some fliers to post for you guys at local feed stores. I loved the design that was on the SAFE horse show flier. If you have fliers made up, could you send me some?
I also bought a case of ivermectin wormer that still has 9 doses left in it. The expiration date is 5/07. Would SAFE want these to use on their rescue rehabs? I was thinking maybe Chelsea or Juliane could use them for JR, Buddy or Heidi, or anyone else that needs them. Just PM me with where to send them if you want them. I could even ship them directly to them.

Don't feel bad about the site visits trillium! We'll get them done by someone closer, and keep you in mind if we adopt down in your area some day.
Bonnie can send you some flyers - she has some really nice ones that she made up for the fundraiser we did last fall. She is "jaybird" on here.
The ivermectin - we can certainly use it! Not for JR or Heidi - Heidi had a Panacur Power Pak donated by Gala and we bought one for JR already, but I can use them up here for Shanti, Bella, Trey, etc. I can also get one to Bonnie at the clinic on the 21st for use with Buck. I'll PM you my info...thanks!!

Morning! I'm in the Tri-Cities area and will be out of town for the next week or so but I'm more than willing to do whatever needs to be done. I'm starting my pet sitting business but not working otherwise (well, tons of work taking care of kids, dogs, etc. LOL) so I'm pretty flexible on what I can do. Once I get back from NE I'll be able to help with transport if needed. I also have a training background (no specialty, just basic) and am willing to work with problem horses. Just let me know what needs to be done!
I could possibly haul a horse east with me (I'm headed through Montana to Nebraska) if someone has a bumper pull I could borrow. Right now we have a gooseneck but can't afford the gas to haul it with the pick-up. It's in Nebraska and I'm planning to trade it for a bumper pull to bring my horses back with. BUT we could have the in-laws sell it and I can buy one here on a later date if transport is needed and a trailer is available. Clear as mud? LOL!
Let me know!
Lora

I've never done a site visit before, but I think I might be able get up that way and give it a try.
After seeing JR's condition, it's been weighing on me.
