Ideally, the best help can be given during daylight hours because there is no lighting on the paddocks but we've done pretty well with two volunteers per day on the days we can get it: one during the afternoon to pick up paddocks, water & collect grain pans and one to do the stalls in the evening as they have limited lighting. If we only have the option of one person per day it's better done during the day. I'd be happy to add you to the volunteer list: Please go to www.safehorses.org/you_help/volunteer.html and fill out the questionnaire if you haven't done so already. We also have other non-mucking help that can be done. The best way to get in on those projects is to be on the volunteer list. But welcome beisbolbrat!!

Hi, I came out on Sat.afternoon. I missed the work party but picked up the paddocks and met the horses. I'm not sure what the protocol is, but I told my mom about SAFE and being the horse lover she is, she is checking out the website and would love to come out and meet the horses. Could we come out maybe Sat. afternoon again? We'd love to help with chores if there's any left. I already filled out the volunteer questionaire. My mom lives too far away to be able to help physically on a regular basis, but I know she won't be able to resist donating in other ways. My mom worked around horses for many years until an injury prevented her from the daily labor that's involved in working on a ranch. My mom's been doing other career things these days and is excited at the prospect of having a horse connection in her life again, but i figured i should ask if it's ok first before we make plans to come out.

Sure, you are welcome to come out! We are getting hay delivered in the AM so will need help stacking it. I will be gone in the afternoon to move horses around but I am sure some volunteers will be around.

Hello to all of you. This is my first reply to your board. First of all I want to say what wonderful work you All do to save horses! I have the highest respect for your passion. It has become mine too. I was a volunteer with Equifriends in Snohomish until it closed 11/08. At present I am searching the horse rescue sites in the area to see which one is a good fit for me. I have much experience in cleaning out stalls, feeding, grooming, and turn out. I am an adult, but I ask as many questions regarding horses as a 6 year old saying why? LOL. I'd love to volunteer my time and am thinking Monday afternoons work best for me right now. I have a 40 hour a week job. I was injured so I need to start out light duty maybe grooming. I"m healed I just need to get my strength back and cleaning stalls should do just the trick! I'm coming out to SAFE tomorrow 02/ 9. Hope to meet you all. Thanks again for all you do for the Horses!!

I would love to help out, but I don't think my application went through.. I ended up having to email it to volunteer@safehorses.org because when I hit submit on my application, it came up with an error message. Let me know if anyone got it.

With all the excitement about Saturday's Clinic, we now find ourselves in a place that we have no one coming out to Jaime's Farm to do chores!
Is there anyone who isn't going to the Clinic who would like to come out to Jaime's and help out around 11am on Saturday? That would be a huge help and give some of the other volunteers an opportunity to attend the clinic.
Please PM me asap so I can get this scheduled! Thanks

I sent this out in an email to trained volunteers but at this point we could use all the help we can get.
While Jaime is out of town, Allison took off the week from work to farm sit and had planned to do chores on any days that we couldn't get covered. Unfortunately she's come down with some kind of flu bug that has her miserable. Coupled with the heat, it's a double whammy for her!
We still have not covered this coming Friday and I'd like to ad some extra help to Saturday & Sunday just so she doesn't have to stress about it.
I'm coming up on Saturday and plan to be there at 11am, I'm sure Katie will also be there but I think it would be helpful to have a couple extras so we can check all the horses and make sure water is fresh, clean & as cool as possible.
I'm pretty sure that Sara's coming this Sunday too!
Please PM asap to let me know you can make it. I know it's a little short notice but that's the way things go in this endeavor sometimes! I totally understand that it may not work out for many of you so please don't feel bad, but if you can make some time, we would totally appreciate it.
THANK YOU!!
** I am also going to add that since the heat is supposed to continue through the weekend I think it would be especially important to check each horse every day and getting hose-downs for as many as possible would be ideal. We'd need several extra hands for that kind of task...ln fact having an extra set of hands tomorrow would be great too!

I'll be out doing chores at Jamie's my usual time at 3:30 tomorrow (Thursday). I would LOVE a few extra hands to help out with hose downs and getting all the chores done as quickly as possible in the heat. :-)

I'm planing on geting to Jaime's early tomorrow to get chores done and hose off as many of the horses as possible. I gave Amber a bath on Monday too, so she's getting more and more used to the hose being on around her.

Hi Jet, I must have missed the email on august sundays but was planning to make it out tomorrow. I'll be there earlier than 11am though because that's just too late to do things like picking paddocks in 90+ degree heat, as we learned last time. Of course, I'm happy to have some extra help. It's definitely helpful to the regular person planned for the day if they have a heads up someone else is headed out and what time. Sara
