What a great report! You know, some horses you get on and you just know right away there isn't any buck/spook/anything there...that was Rusty. I wish they were all like that. You really did get a superstar and I'm glad he's got such a perfect home!

Well, I finally contacted the woman where Rusty was rescued from to see if I could find out more about Rusty's background and see if it was possible to get him papered, or if he already was. She was really helpful and quite friendly and gave me her daughter's telephone numbers. (Daughter had made the initial sale arrangements). She was also quick to respond and we exchanged email addresses. She sent photos of Rusty being ridden of when she owned him, but didn't feel comfortable giving me the name of the owner before then. So dead end there. I'm bummed about that, but it was really just for curiosity and history report anyway.
On another note- I got Rusty shod on the front today. Now that the weather is nicer, I plan to hit some more trails!

You ought to post good pictures showing his markings on the farm & garden section of Craigslist. Someone knows who he is! I'd love to see you get his papers. I still remember seeing him the first time and going, whoa, where did you get lost from? There is some quality breeding in that horse and it'd be fascinating to find out his true identity.

What a lucky boy he was only at that place a few days before he was rescued. And now he has a forever home. Good job! I am looking out on half my pasture space which is about what these horses were being kept on. I cant imagine anyone thinking 23 horses would really work out. Common sense is becoming so rare they are going to have to call it something else. Great job getting these horses to happy places! It sounds like he is in the perfect home now.

He's such a sweet boy! Although he is alpha of the herd, he's so polite and respectful to his humans. The other two I literally have to push off me.
I had hoped to bring him down to the SAFE show, but I doubt I'll be able to make it. I'm pretty bummed. He's coming along so well!!

New pic of Rusty and I taken today by my husband. I just love his blue eye! He's doing great, btw. Great trail horse. Not spooky at all. Still working on arena work, especially the whoa and cantering. He's getting the hang of it, but does a lot better bareback. He's such a cutie!

What a beautiful photo!!!
Btw, THANK YOU for the lovely painting for HeART of the Horse! I was very busy with things and didn't get back to increase my bid so someone else got it but I hear it was a big fan of yours who came just to see your piece! I would have loved to have it in my personal collection....absolutely stunning!
Folks, you really should check out her art work!!!

I hope to make the show this year, Cat. Rusty's so mellow, I think it would be good for him. Fun too! And thank you and you're welcome, Coconut! I'm glad I could help out. It looked like you had a TON of donations. Good for you! Wish I could have made it . . . And thanks for the shout out on my art! BTW, I still have Rusty's winter blanket from SAFE. Is there a local person that I could give it to?

First trail ride of 2009! This is my girlfriend Jamie riding Rusty. This is her first time EVER trail riding and has only 3 professional riding lessons under her belt. Both of them were amazing. I'm now thinking that maybe I can get my husband or daughter to out with me some time . . . Yeah. I can wish! But Rusty is SO bombproof. Water, bridges, excavating machinery, you name it!
