Not entirely true, cardi. I recall Redmond admitting being quite smitten with a certain palomino named Titan

Well, even Redmond! has a soft spot for a hot blonde. And I am NOT, repeat NOT - talking about you Lisa! So, don't give me any BS about that statement!

She's doing great, thanks for asking! Her and Slam have become terribly bonded, both of them scream their heads off if separated. Neither one is getting ridden right now, so they are happily hanging out together most of the time. Last week, Vanna was the test subject for part of the PIMA Institute's vet tech program. They needed a horse for the students to learn how to brush, lead, clean feet, put on leg and tail wraps, administer medicines (Both Slam and Vanna got wormed), and the vet took blood (and we got free bloodwork done). Vanna was the perfect patient (which was why I picked her), and stood like a statue while they all swarmed around her, and loved every minute of the attention!

Thats how my two horses are. If I ride in the arena people looking in always laugh, because I'm riding my big TB and our little mini is just taggin along. It's made for some cute pictures though. My horse is a little on the emotional side to have everyone swarming around her....but I only wish that someday she'd be like Vanna......

Since the Jockey Club lets you loook up tattoo's for free, just for fun, I looked up the three possible matches to get their names ( I also printed their pedigree's that have breeder name on it).
S27038 is Romeo's Sunday by Romeo's Best out of Morning Glad; foaled 6/11/1989 in Virginia
S27080 is Summer Cabin by Cabin out of August Night; foaled 8/22/1989 in Kentucky
S27093 is Fire Island Peach by Peaceful Tune out of Hide the Fire; foaled 5/26/1989 in New York

Thank you Allison! I haven't had time to do that yet. Don't they have markings on there? If so, it should be easy to match her.

Unfortuantely, no markings; just color. I am super curious to find out who Vanna really is and how she ended up on a feedlot. If she is one of the three above, I would be interested to know how she ended up on the West coast.
The only one to have raced was Summer Cabin.

Thank you to Crystal for getting me to go back and look at the TB Tattoo lookup for her, because I tried it again and I am 99% sure I have finally, finally identified Vanna! She is: Miss Clatskanie Tattoo S27008 Year of Birth 1989 Dam Name Our Shining Star Color Chestnut Sex Mare Large star and connected broad stripe, becoming bordered flesh colored on bridge of nose, touching both nostrils, ending on upper lip; median cowlick above eye level. Left fore: white to above ankle, higher in back. Left hind: irregular half stocking, lower on outside; chestnut spot on coronet on inside. Right hind: full stocking, higher in front. Right fore: irregular half stocking. White hairs at root of tail; scattered white hairs throughout coat. That sounds like her! Not much of a race record, but a small one: www.pedigreequery.com/miss+clatskanieNow I am wondering who dumped her at that feedlot 5 years ago....

Check out her progeny - the last filly she had (2004) is/was owned by Larry & Veralene Hillis.
MTA - another daughter of hers was also bred by L. Hillis. Hmm.

I'm on it...found Veralene on facebook and sent her a message. Poor girl had a lot of babies (7 total). They are in WA so I am positive we've found it. Unfortunately, they are probably the ones that dumped her. I sent a NICE email though and didn't mention where I got her, as I really would like information about her!

I am so, so thrilled to report that I sent a nice email to the previous owners (probably the ones that dumped her, but I don't care at this point). They responded and today I checked my mail and they had sent me her PAPERS and PHOTOS of her as a yearling!! I will scan and post soon. I am so, so thrilled to finally have an identity for my beautiful girl!!!
Oh, and there was a note attached, which said "We are happy she has a good home. Enjoy."
