For those of us who have not shown in YEARS...can you post a link to the rules? Such as can you have a snaffle bit for western and hold two hands.
Reese and I may just make our way there as this looks like a blast!

Gosh, that is a good one. I don't think there are any rules against showing western in a snaffle or using both hands, you just won't do too well in equitation!! The only rules that I can think of would be pertaining to dangeous or cruel training equipment. Since this is a schooling show, schooling equipment like martingales would be acceptable, but i don't think draw reins would. I dunno...?

The rule is that you can show western in a snaffle bit with two hands on a junior horse, which by AQHA rules is 4 and under, but I have seen open shows allow 5 and under. In practice, unless the class is specifically for junior horses, nobody checks your horse's teeth...so I have SEEN people get away with two handing senior horses. If you are two handing on a junior horse, it is correct and should not affect your horsemanship placing one bit. The schooling shows at Tacoma Unit allow any manner of schooling equipment, draws, surgical tubing forks, etc. So that is something where SAFE may have to come up with a defined policy. Obviously it is way easier to win with some form of headset correcting equipment!

I don't think I saw this get answered - are there any issues with stallions being shown by 18+ exhibitors?
I want to bring mine and my roommate would like to bring hers.
Also, what is the stall situation? Both of ours are fine being stabled next to mares unless the stalls are pipe, then they should go next to boys (they won't hassle geldings).

Bridle Trails doesn't have any stabling, so the horses would have to be tied at the trailer. I can only think of insurance having an issue with stallions, but I have seen them at schooling shows before, always with 18+ handlers.

Oh, good to know about the no stalls. I may pack panels and make a couple.

Not to trample on plans made by Leah and Bonnie, but I thought it would be a nice touch if people could bring a bouquet of flowers from their gardens or whatever.
One for registration One for concessions One for the trophy table One for the judges table
Just a thought. ;D

OM Gosh....this getting ready for show stuff is exhausting!! My best laid plans still kept me out till 9pm but we gained an extra rider in the process!!! I still have to pack the truck....but I just want to put this out there....I KNOW this is a FUN show so I'm doing my best to keep that in perspective and not fuss about how NOT a show-horse Coconut is & having as much fun as possible because my workout with Coconut was anything but serious business. She had the best time....me, not so much! So let's cross our fingers and hooves that she and all the horses are saving their performances for the show ring. I am prepared, however, to just try to smile through it, even if she's still dead set on a circle instead of a pivot. I swear she could do it a few weeks ago!!!! She claims she doesn't remember.
I AM SOOOOOOOO Excited to see all the other horses and meet everyone. It's going to be a great time and an awesome show....THANK YOU jaybird and shekaberry and ALL THE Volunteers for the hard work & giving the rest of us an opportunity to get out and do something with our horses!
