Good stuff, thanks guys My vet was out Wed the 8th and he said she was a bit chubby even with Maddy walking her a mile each day except Sat. (we go to Elma) We only have been feeding her grass hay and horse guard suppliments. Her grass hay is given in the am and pm and her regular apple from the mail lady during Maddys walks with her and then her 15 minutes of fame grazing on the grass like a normal horse. (there is nothing impressive in her pasture right now). So we have now been instructed to cut her morning hay portion back just a bit and add one more mile to her walk with Maddy each day. She hasn't developed a "crest" he said but that he can't feel her ribs unless he is causing her discomfort doing it, so he said just for the next month to watch it close and then she will be in her last 30 days and the baby will be taking everything from her anyway. He wants us for the last month to feed a grass/alphalpha mix for calcium for the foal and to keep that during lactation as well. So I am sure she won't even know she is getting less in the am. He said other than that she looks great. (thank God) and to keep plugging along. I asked about grain and he said all she needs is a good grass/alph mix and her horse guard and she will be fine. Maybe because she is a mini and they founder easy???
