She looks like a really nice horse. I wish I know more about TBs. If only I could have more horses now. Darn darn darn! I think she would be perfect for me. If only......

Amazing what proper tooth care can do. That poor horse, to be put through senseless pain because of not having proper dental work. I'm surprised that she didn't turn out worse.
It reminds me of a pretty Arabian that was boarded at the stables that my horse is at. I insisted her owners give her to me after I kept seeing her listed on CL. Each time the price going down further and further. She was constantly throwing her head around while being ridden and crow hopping. They would tie her head down to try to prevent it.
After I re-homed her to a great family they had her teeth done. She had 2 teeth pulled and needed them floated badly. It really irks me that basic care is commonly overlooked and the horse suffers. For goodness sake, there is so many resources out there on basic horse care especially with the internet, there is really no excuse.
I'm so glad that Maggie is in SAFE's hands and is getting the care she deserves. Great job guys!

That is wonderful news. When I first rode her, she acted like she knew about giving to the bit and going in a frame, but I thought her resistance was just due to having been ridden by someone with bad, uneducated hands. What a difference after her dental work was taken care of! I really do not think it would take much for someone to get this mare to the show ring and I suspect she has been shown. She is too well broke to be just track broke and her level of knowledge did not come from some kid barrel racing her. I have a feeling there is quite a history here.

Well, I do have to say I am posting all the good photos. She did still have a lot of trouble staying in a frame, she would get there for a stride or two and then the head would pop back up again. She was definately nervous and protective of her mouth still, but I think she will come around quickly with some consistent work.

Beautiful horse!! She could be amazing with the right rider/home.
I have a horse, Hootie actually, that just had major dental work done. He's had off and on diarhea too for 2 years, with really nothing to stop it.. regular worming and herbal worming/detox, and probiotics. Plus I had the vet do his teeth 1 1/2 years ago. He's always taken his head to the sky too to bridle. After the dental work, not one pile of diarhea or loose poop, all nice round shiny poop balls. I haven't bridled him yet, as I wanted to give him a FULL week to recover.. I am excited to get on him though, and see if there is a change under saddle.

Maggie has found a wonderful home at the barn I was boarding her at. They fell in love with her and she seems to love the children there.....they fight over who gets to ride her. I cannot imagine a better place for her! Thank you to Jaime, Dr. Hannah and Alison for caring for her so well when she was up north.

Good for Maggie - she is a sweet girl and what is better for a horse than to be loved by children!
