Hey all....I just got back from a weekend of fun and frolic with HRH Twist. Well, maybe not frolic. More like slipping and sliding in the mud. She seems to be healing nicely. She's put on a little more weight with the extra grain (for hiding the medicine in) and was feeling quite spunky today. She and the boys were playing tag. Her new rainsheet arrived by priority mail yesterday. So cute!! It's a black and beige plaid with navy trim and sweet little silver buckles. She will be the best dressed pony in town. It was impossible to find a rainsheet the proper size for HH, so I had to order one off the internet. I found a great little place in MD, called 'Just for Ponies'. I explained to the gentleman who answered the phone that I was in a bit of a pickle and he agreed that a pony with rain rot in the Pacific Northwest was a sad situation. He found one in stock to fit and mailed it as soon as he got off the phone. What a great guy! If any of you need bling for a hard to fit pony, google this place. You'll be glad you did! I ordered on Thursday and received my order on Saturday. Wow.... One more thing I thought I would share. Twist has always had this cute little habit of shaking her head when she runs. Especially if she's ticked off about something. Well, I looked outside this morning to see Twist and the other two mares running around, and the old timers were both shaking their heads around, just like Twist. I guess everyone wants to be seen behaving like Royalty! ;D

Ah, the horsey equivalent of the royal "waving of the hand"
I've so missed Twist updates... glad to hear she's healing - I assume the others are too.

They are all doing much better. The little Fjord/Perch seems to be having a relapse, so he's getting a bath tomorrow.

Pictures pictures pictures! CAn't wait to see her again! LDH- I had a mare who was EXTREMELY susceptible to rainrot, ringworm and just general skin CRUD. Didn't matter how clean she was or how dirty. I literally lost 6 mos out of one year of riding her because her skin funk was so sore. My vet was out constantly, we tried numerous meds, washes etc. Nothing worked-some even made her worse! (I sound like a commercial here). Then I found Silver Lining Herbs ( www.silverliningherbs.com ). Jolie went on their "Training Mix" and POOF! No more skin cruddies! As long as I kept her on them, she didn't have funk, allergic reactions to insect bites etc. Stuff was a Godsend for her. It's not expensive either since the bag will last you a VERY long time. It's a TINY scoop and the horses love it. Aly (the obese Han mare) was on their "stocking up soother" and within one week she totally stopped stocking up. I kept her on it all one summer and she never had a puffy day. Anyway- just thought I'd pass the info along. Apologies for the commercial. ;D -Amy

I can only say that in the end, we still have him here and he was pretty sick guy for a while.

Do you think it may help with sweet itch? My little morgan mare has a heck of a time with it. I've found things that help, but can't seem to get rid of it completely.

Love those updates. yada, yada, slackreins, yada, yada. You two are a hoot!! Well, alright. I guess I can be a hoot. Well, uh, er, ... technically, half a hoot since we two are a hoot. Hey, LilDun, ya wanna be the "ho" or the "ot"? Oh, wait. You can't be the "ho" cuz somebody's gonna mispronounce that. Sorry. I'll be the "Ho". Now I'm all embarrassed. Good to hear you've finally found a miniature pony rain sheet that fits HRH. Much better than the garbage bag idea and a lot more fitting for Princess Twist and her royal court. "... black and beige plaid with navy trim and sweet little silver buckles." Sounds quite lovely. You know it wouldn't work for Buster. With all his winter fur, he'd look like a dust mop wearing a tube top. Sorry to hear Thor had a set back. I know he's been in your house before so why can't he just move in until the skin clears up? At least for a warm bubble bath? OK, maybe not. Once your new house is finished, can he have the old one? An update, huh? I'll try to start a thread.... I think. B, you have a PM.

Some handy rules to live by that I have learned from HRH Twist: One can never be too busy for a big bowl of oats. Always acquaint a jumpy pony to the noise of velcro BEFORE you put the rain sheet on!! Back pockets are a really bad place to hide snacks. Dreams, complete with sound affects and running in place, aren't just for puppies. They are for ponies too. Hay is always better when it belongs to someone else. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Whether you're on the right side or the wrong side. Pony kisses are best BEFORE the pony takes a drink. Belly scratches rule!!! ;D

She is much fatter now and wearing her winter woollies. This picture was taken on her first day out of quarantine, at my farm in Marblemount
