I really cant believe anyone can mistreat any animal. It is horrible, and to know how many people do is even worse. I am just happy for these kind of groups because they help so much.

I agree, It's so very sad how many people are so clueless or simply don't care I saw the most buetifull paint that I used to drive by everyday and always admired him. the people moved and gave him to the new owners. I stopped by and asked if ever they wanted to sell him and they said no their kids thought he was great. It wasn't long before he started looking ragged and sad then he was laying down and not getting up any more he had foundered and was just left there then I didn't see him ever again

That is so sad about the paint. But, thankfully, there is this: You all did good. And I think AWWWWWWW is a great name for her!

Jenna, $150 for her purchase and $150 for transportation. $300 right there. The foster mom has put a ton of time and money into her. She now has gained weight, been trimmed, has had her sweet itch attended to, and has had lots of TLC. I am sure all together the costs have already gone over $500 easy.

Good points HC...thanks for pointing them out. The costs to get her were posted earlier the thread, but it's a good idea to repost/remind. Jenna, are you interested in the mare? Let us know!

Also- Please also keep in mind that SAFE currently has 7 horses in foster care, one in full training and several others that need training, and our books are completely disclosed and it is clear we do not have a lot of funds remaining to support the horses we have. $500 is our base adoption fee for a sound, ridable, younger horse (actually our standard fee would be $600, but given her allergies we reduced it to $500), and is in line with or well-below the adoption fees of most rescues. We do not price any horse below meat price as a strict policy.
If you have any questions of these type please do not hesitate to ask, as our pricing policies and fees are completely transparent to the public.
Thanks!

HC - those were very good points. Rescue is expensive business, but a sweet trained nursed back to health younger horse for $500 is a real bargain. Nysa will make someone a wonderful horse for years to come.
