Ariel is one of the Elledge horses from the Snohomish County case that SAFE has been quietly caring for since she was born. Ariel's dam is Amber, who gave birth to her just 9 days after her arrival at SAFE and who was still in horrendous condition at the time. Ariel, thankfully, appears to have suffered no ill effects from her dam's ordeal, and has been a normal, healthy filly, that has been an absolute pleasure to have on the farm. Her only issue has been a 3 cm umbilical hernia, but this past week, on November 5th, she went to Pilchuck and had it surgically repaired. We are thankful to the county for picking up the bill for the surgery, and she has now been signed over to our care. Born at almost exactly midnight March 14th, she is about 2 months older than Biscotti. She is similiar in coloring and markings to her dam, but unlike the shy, skittish nature of her dam, Ariel has been a social and friendly filly from the beginning, who loves to give nose kisses. We have been told that her sire is fanaberia's Khramer, formerly known as Wajiih El Nefous. Ariel is with me in Monroe, she's been living in the "baby paddock" with Scotti and Kayo since the big weaning day, but since her surgery she is on stall rest for a while. Her adoption fee is $500. Photos shortly after her birth: Dr. Hannah examining her: After we moved her into a stall, Amber takes the time to clean her up: More photos to come! I have tons, but none are on photobucket, so bear with me!

I love the "milk bar" captioning! That is hysterical!
From day 1 - Ariel has been the most friendly little thing! She would just run at you full blast to come for cuddles and pets. She also picked up the talking thing from her mom. Many times after cleaning the arena and giving her lots of pets and cuddles - she would stand at the fence and call to me in that teeny tiny foal voice when I left. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

Awesome photos! Ariel was so petite as a foal even the mini blanket was too big for her! Are there any pictures of her wearing Dr. Hannah's puffy vest? She was ADORABLE in that.

The look on Scotti's face as Ariel is attempting to steal his place at the "Milk Bar" is absolutely hysterical. We (my boys and I) laughed so hard! How sweet!

Thank you Lisa for sharing those! I didn't have any of the vest photos, so I am glad you did! That last photo was hilarious! And she was such a TINY little girl!

I remember meeting this one and just going...WOW, what is SHE doing here? She was so obviously a well-bred, show quality filly. If you are going to get a surprise with a rescue mare, that is a pretty nice surprise to get!

Hurrah, all of those photos are GREAT! Love the vest pictures, and love Ariel's super-cute expression in the last two.
Thanks for posting them so we could live vicariously through the foaling experience!

It's great to see she made it thru the surgery well. It was always a joy to visit her whenever we stopped by SAFE because she is so social. I'm sure she will find a home quick! Who could resist her.
